Characterstics of Fitness and Exercise Habit in the Elderly

Results of Surverys in a Japanese Elderly Population

The average life span of the Japanese, which is 77.01 years for males and 83.59 years for females, is the longest in the world. However, ageing of the population is progressing in Japan at a rate not experienced in any country of the world, and one of every 4 Japanese is expected to be 65 years old or above in the early 21st century.
