Perceptions of Macao Nurse Administrators on the Core Competences of a Registered Nurse

 

Abstract:
This research is to identify the perceptions of Macao nurse administrators on the core competences of registered nurse in Macao health care context. One hundred and three participants were recruited. The Competence Inventory for Registered Nurse (CTRN) was used to identify the perceptions of participants regarding registered nurse’s core competences. Mean score of CTRN ranged from 3.90-4.81 (SD = 0.523-0.827). A. confirmatory factor analysis indicated the intercorrelations for the seven dimensions and the overall registered nurse competence inventory were significant (r = .33-.86, p<.001). The goodness-of-fit test showed chi-square was 54.18 (p<.001) goodness-of-fit index (GFI=.98) and root mean square error of approximation (RMSEA. =.07). Though the Macao nurse administrators in a different context from Mainland of China, they hold the quite similar perceptions regarding registered nurse competence. The results of study indicated that the Chinese registered nurse competences framework can be applied in Macao nursing context.
